Summer party and RAM House inauguration at Villa Croce – 4 July

4 July 2015 / 19.30 – 24.00
Museo di Arte Contemporanea di Villa Croce
via Jacopo Ruffini 3, 16128

Featuring Memory Palace, an interactive experience by Ben Vickers + Kei Kreutler (Unmonastery)
and a special performance of Punto Zero by Otolab, followed by a set by DJ Vertical Pig

Throughout the month of July Space Caviar will be in residence at Villa Croce, Genoa’s premier museum of contemporary art, with RAM House, an experimental architectural prototype installed on the front lawn of the museum. Created in collaboration with Mobilrot, RAM House is a domestic prototype that explores the home’s response to a new definition of privacy. As the home is saturated by “smart” devices that monitor their surroundings, the domestic envelope is no longer a shield from an external gaze: the home itself is observing us. In this near-future scenario, RAM House proposes a space of “selective electromagnetic autonomy”. Wi-Fi, cellphone and other radio signals are filtered by movable shields of radar-absorbent material (RAM) and faraday meshing, preventing signals from entering and exiting.

Ben Vickers and Kei Kreutler of Unmonastery will present an Oculus Rift-based piece Memory Palace, followed musical performances by experimental audio artists Otolab and DJ Vertical Pig. Throughout July, there will be a program of screenings and events every Thursday evening exploring themes related to the new domestic.

10 June 2015 Our film Fortress of Solitude will be screened at the Barbican on 25 June as part of the Architecture Foundation’s Architecture on Film series. The screening will be followed by a conversation between Simone Niquille, Joseph Grima and Bruce Sterling.
